Happy Trails

Thoughts on life’s meandering madness

The unending trail meanders about,
step after step in a windy route.
Exacting is the toll of this journey we take,
confusing turns and decisions to make.

Blood, sweat and salty tears,
mark the trail-blazers paths.
Bellowing lungs fan thrills and fears,
over desperate beats of the hearts.

The fiery scorching god above,
is raining down his scourge.
The strength and mettle are put to test,
in this body’s fragile forge.

Treacherous tracks coming ahead,
are no cause to lose heart.
For beyond every uphill climb,
lies the vernal verdant grass.

Scorching shine or the soothing shade,
the hilly climbs and the lovely grass
will whiz past by or drag on and fade.
As in vain we repulse and grasp.
Oh, those fleeting sights and plights,
they were never meant to last.

Ahoy! the glad travelers,
whatever do they do!
They get on with the journey,
without much ado.

Alas! The path is inevitable,
and often the toil.
But with their outlook
they avoid the roil.

Stumbling ’pon the ditches,
when hardship dampens their spirits,
and courage starts to thin.
Unfazed by those glitches,
they remember to meet the plashets,
with the playful child within.

Wish you happy trails, my friend.
Leaving you with a parting message.
To not burden your mind, but lighten it,
enlighten it with time’s passage.
Treading that path mindfully
is in fact our journey’s end.
